Reporting an emergency

If you need to report an on-campus emergency, contact SPU’s Office of Safety and Security (OSS) at 206-281-2911, or by pressing the call button on any campus emergency phone.

OSS dispatchers can alert 911 and direct medical and police responders to the appropriate campus location of an emergency. Also, OSS officers are trained first responders and can often provide medical help before 911 first responders arrive.

SPU-Alert Emergency Notification System

In an emergency, SPU uses the SPU-Alert system to communicate with faculty, staff, and students. Messages can be sent via email, text, loudspeakers, electronic reader boards (located in many classrooms and high-use areas), and “pop-up” messages on University-maintained computers.

SPU-Alert can also send recorded voice messages to mobile phones. In addition to using SPU-Alert, information may also be posted on the SPU website, the SPU Twitter account @SPUnews, or through Building Emergency Coordinators.
